Santa Tecla’s rocky and lava coastline is still reminiscent of the proximity of the volcano Etna and offers a breathtaking landscape, especially near the 16th-century watchtower built on a rock near Scalo Pennisi.

Precisely, this beautiful seaside village is surrounded by beauty: to the west, it is adjacent to the lush and wild Timpa ‘Falconiera’, now a protected natural park, while to the east it stretches along the coast of the Ionian Sea, characterised by a solid and majestic cliff of volcanic rock. This coastal area curves into a wide inlet known as the Gulf of St. Thecla, mentioned on ancient maps as ‘Sinus S. Theclae.”
