Means to easily reach Taormina and Isola Bella

We have gathered all the useful information that will allow you to reach one of the most picturesque and well-known villages in Sicily from the center of Catania.

 

Hop on the bus!

Whether you’re coming from the center of Catania or the Airport, getting around by bus to reach Taormina is very simple: in just over an hour, you’ll be in the center of Taormina!

The company that operates the Catania – Taormina route is Interbus.

Its buses depart daily from the Bus Terminal in the city of Catania on Via Archimede, just a stone’s throw from Catania Centrale Train Station and the Giovanni XXIII metro stop, passing through the main streets of the city, and then arriving at the Taormina Bus Terminal on Via Pirandello in about 1 hour 10 minutes / 1 hour 55 minutes. On weekdays, the first ride departs at 6:30 in the morning with a frequency of one ride per hour (check the website), until 8:00 p.m. On Saturdays, the first ride is at 7:30 a.m., and on Sundays at 8:30 a.m., with a ride every half hour until 11:00 a.m., and then one every hour until 8:00 p.m.

COST

Ticket prices are €4.60/€5.10, depending on the selected schedules, discounted to €3.90 and €4.25 if a round trip is purchased on the same day.

Interbus buses also depart from Catania Fontanarossa Airport: the first departure is at 07:15 and the last at 19:15, with a frequency of one departure every half hour until 10:45, and then one departure every hour. The ticket price is €7.00.

Travel by train!

With Trenitalia, you can reach Taormina in 1 hour to 1 hour 40 minutes.
Departures are from Catania Centrale Train Station, connected to the Giovanni XXIII metro stop, or, depending on the selected schedules, from Catania Ognina Station, near the Galatea metro stop, with arrival at Taormina – Giardini Train Station. From there, you can reach the center of Taormina (Via Pirandello Bus Terminal) in 10-15 minutes with buses from Azienda Servizi Municipalizzati Taormina (ASMT) at a cost of €1.10 (single ticket purchasable on the Trenitalia website) and Interbus company buses at a price of €1.50. Additionally, taxis are available just outside (cost approximately €15.00).

DEPARTURE TIMES

On weekdays, the first departure is at 06:36 in the morning and the last at 18:36, with a frequency of approximately one trip per hour (check on the Trenitalia website). On Sundays, the frequency decreases, and the last departure is at 17:55.

COST

The ticket cost is €6.60 for a regular ticket in 2nd class and €9.60 for an Economy ticket in the Family area in 2nd class (€8.50 train + €1.10 bus).
