This is the Roman Baroque temple in Palermo, built starting in 1612. It is located right at the crossroads of the Quattro Canti and the interior is a forest of marble columns and frescoes. It’s a church, designed to amaze and showcase the richness of the religious congregations of the time.
Beneath the floor is a crypt with a source of the purest water that still flows today. Notice the dome: from the inside it looks very high, but on the outside it is almost invisible because it is enclosed in a lantern. It is one of the coolest churches in the city, ideal for a rejuvenating break during the hot hours.
