Fontana di Diana
Piazza Archimede - 96100 Siracusa
The majestic Diana Fountain, created in 1907 by Giulio Moschetti in collaboration with his son, the sculptor Mario Moschetti, is located in Piazza Archimede in Syracuse.
This fountain, facing south, highlights the figure of Diana, the goddess of the hunt, with her bow and faithful dog, symbols of her divinity – Goddess of the Hunt – and of her role as protector of Ortigia in ancient Greece.
At her feet, we can admire Arethusa as she transforms into a spring of water, while Alphaeus, at her side, stands stunned at this astonishing metamorphosis.
At the top of the pool, four Tritons dominate the scene, riding two sea horses and two pistrices emerging from the waves.
A true story takes shape.
