BY CAR
Palermo is well connected to the rest of the island via an efficient highway network:
- A19 (Palermo – Catania): connects the Tyrrhenian coast to the Ionian coast and central Sicily.
- A29 (Palermo – Mazara del Vallo): with branches to Trapani and Falcone Borsellino Airport.
- A20 (Palermo – Messina): runs along the northern Tyrrhenian coast.
For those arriving from mainland Italy, take the A2 (Autostrada del Mediterraneo) motorway to Villa San Giovanni, cross the Strait of Messina by ferry, and continue along the A20 motorway to Palermo.
