Via Vittorio Emanuele - 90134 Palermo
It’s an incredible monument that divides Corso Vittorio Emanuele from the road leading to Monreale. Its size and rich detail make it one of the most spectacular triumphal arches in Italy, a true symbol of power and civic pride.
Notice the four large “Giants” at the base (the Moors): they represent the Saracens defeated by the emperor. The dome is covered with beautiful, colorful, scale-shaped majolica tiles, typical of Sicilian craftsmanship.
It’s the perfect spot for a photo that encompasses the entire view of the “Cassaro” all the way to the sea.
