Located on Mount Pellegrino, the sanctuary is built around the cave where the bones of the saint who saved Palermo from the plague were found in 1624. It is a unique place: the 17th-century façade hides a natural cave where water flows along the rock walls.

Inside the cave, a system of iron channels collects the water considered miraculous. You’ll find a reclining statue of Saint Rosalia, covered in gold and jewels, which moves all who enter. A tip: walk up the “old road” (l’acchianata) to experience it like a true Palermitan.
